If you've just arrived at uni and find your accommodation a little cramped and depressing, don't despair. With a few minor cheap adjustments, you will have it feeling welcoming in no time.
Start with your bed. Add a colourful duvet cover and pillow covers. And, as student rooms are often on the chilly side, think about bring in an extra throw for warmth for those cold nights.
While, as the bed often doubles up as a sofa during the day, add a few supportive scatter cushions too.
Decorate your bare walls with posters, your very own artwork or wall stickers. Just make sure that anything that you put up will not leave a mark behind once it's removed at the end of your tenancy, you don't want to lose your deposit.
And, while that bright ceiling light is great for studying, when you want to prepare for a big night out or chill at home with your friends you want to take the luminosity in the room down a notch or too. Opt for a couple of funky side lights or perhaps a contemporary take on traditional fairy twinkles.
Warm up the floor with a rug or sheepskin pelt. The Woolous sheepskin rug, shown above, is from Amazon and comes in a selection of colours, ranging from natural to vibrant.
